Trek World Product release for 2012 has come and gone. Behind the scene work is tremendous just like you would assume for such a large event. Fortunately I got to see and help with a lot of set up and preparation since i went to Madison a week prior to the event.
Trek has some really fantastic product for the next year and just when you started thinking they had hit the sweet spot with something they "upgrade" and modify something only to make it even better. For example check out the mountain shoes for next year. WOW they made an already awesome shoe even better.
Ok enough of the Product stuff you can go on-line (which you currently are if your reading this) and see the new stuff or go to your LBS (local bike store). Lets talk about my trip.
With so many friends and one enemy (the pavement product manager-which i will explain in a later chapter) i had requests to ride somewhere daily. Arriving Sunday night I got dinner and then hit a movie to relax. Monday had me at headquarters visiting, returning a camera and catching up with some people. Monday evening I attended the Pie ride from the Trek Madison East store. Let me tell you about this.... you meet at 6 and roll out on a short 12 mile ride to a local diner where the Store picks up the tab on pie for anyone wanting it! How fantastic! then its another 8 or 9 miles back. relaxed pace and open to any and all customers in the area. FYI i had blueberry pie. We hung around the store afterwards until 9 or 9:30 before I returned back to my hotel to retire for the evening.
