Karen

Ok for a week now the temperatures have stayed low enough to preserve this deer that I'll assume was hit by a passing car. never the less I've pedaled past her day after day week after week during my rides. After the second or third time I gave the deer the name Karen. Why you ask? Well it just seemed right to give her a name seeing as she had claimed a clear spot on the side of the road and she wasn't about to give it up. Now the best part about this is that due to the frigid temps Karen remained for over a month and never started to hint of decay. You now what I'm talking about the foul smell that all road kill gets. The breath robbing smell as you try to pedal past. Oh now you understand, right? Nope nothing here with Karen. This is why I love the winter riding, clear, cool winter air! But at last the temps are climbing and I'm forced to re-route my ride to allow Karen the proper time to take natures course. I will miss her, but will always have this photo of her snow chaulk line!

It's come and gone once again! Arriving at the Sale around 7:30, Bob Myers & I spotted the line of almost 300 people waiting to get in for the bargains. It was a full day off from riding for me as I found myself hanging out there for most of the day only taking a break to go pick up my riding bud Timmy so he could enjoy the hang out time. We stumbled across another friend Moose so the 3 of use had lunch and coffee before splitting. Until next year over & out from the TOP warehouse sale.

So here's a quick run down on the latest happenings

• Trek of Pittsburgh warehouse sale. This weekend so go!
• Timmy Lyons back on the recovery train & doing well
• New Superfly Single speed has arrived- needs built up
• Finished the 2009 Superfly build- pics to follow soon
• 2009 Paragon is completed with very similar parts as the Superfly less the FSA Cranks. Had a new Bontrager Carbon crankset left over which found it's way onto the Paragon.
• Recently formed an addiction to cake & dark haired girls
• Got to ride with Timmy#1 (TJ) for the first time in ages.
• Recent addition to cake (oh I said that already didn't i?)
• Did I mention dark haired punk chicks? Like Agent M previously from Tsunami Bomb and now from The Action Design. Wow love the hair and the voice!!! What a sweetheart!

Middle of the Road

Sometimes the middle of the road is the best choice! Let the vehicles go around you rather than over you once the crack has taken you down. Yea basically ride like you own the road.... that's how I survive..sometimes cut or bruised but still alive.

Friday night lights

This past friday evening found me pedaling the back roads between Butler & Armstrong Counties. With an extremely clear sky and the Moonlight glimmering off the partially melted snow I killed my headlamp and rode by the natural light! For safety reason I left the rear blinking light on but the moonlight was so bright it actually cast my shadow and with little car traffic on my choosen roads I felt comforatable doing this. I pedalled over twenty miles without any light. What a tranquile evening. Just me , my Mendota, some kick a@# tunes and the moonlit roads. Another great ride!

Little notes

Still living in the deep freeze & still loving it! Racing season will be here soon but hey why rush things, lets enjoy this awesome weather. It feels like I haven't been riding enough but after evaluating my stats from the GPS I realized that I'm actually doing pretty good so far.
My good riding Bud Timmy Lyons just had some internal adjustments made on his back Thursday so hopefully he'll recover quickly and be back riding in a few weeks. Until then it looks like I'll be doing  most of my riding solo.

Last night I had my cousin over to help me bake a cake. Ok so most of you laugh at this, right? How hard is it to make a cake? Well let me tell you that a dry or over cooked cake is awful so I wanted to learn from the best. Also Hannah's cakes are made without following the directions on the box. Thats right, she (and her family) always make their cakes the same way. They also mash up a banana and add it to the mix. They're awesome cakes! Anyway thanks to Hannah for hanging out and baking with me. I now have a pan full of calories to replace ther ones I'm headed out to burn over the weekend.
