Finished 3rd at the Fair Hill Race on Sunday. The rain held off and the race was a big success for the promoter with over 600 racers attending.
This event brought out a lot of people and I was happy get the chance to see everyone. Trek Demo Bikes were on hand and Dave O'Connell was setting them up for riders to try. Jon Posner (from the 24 hour Solo video with Chris Eatough) and his wife Tracey were there. Steven Hoover (East Coast Team Director) and several of the Trek East Coast team members attended.
Here's how my race played out.....
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 GO! Marc Vettori took the hole shot immediately and really pushed the pace right from the line. Past experience told me that he wouldn't be able to maintain this pace and for some reason I thought he was racing a Single Speed. Boy was I wrong on both accounts when I realized he had gears
and he was going to maintain this pace. He slipped ahead for the first lap and managed to hold Matt McElroy and I off for the remaining two laps to earn the top podium spot. Matt and I did close the gap to less than 20 seconds but were never able to finished it off. Congrats to Marc a great guy and someone I consider a friend. He rode an awesome race and seeing him totally blown out on the ground after the finish proved he left nothing in the reserve tank.
My new Fisher Super Fly rode well and I was really finding my groove with it through the twisting sections of single track. Both the G2 geometry and the Bontrager Dry X tires worked flawlessly. I'm really impressed with these tires and I think too many guys overlook them because they think there for out West. The worked well on the roots, rocks and had a enough traction for both climbing and braking.
Thanks to Fisher, Bontrager, Deans Milk, Butler Heart Center and Trek of Pittsburgh for all the support.

Good job. Podium finish for your first race of the year. That is a great way to start the season.
