Watchoo talkin bout Willis?

Bavington_316 Bavington- Hillman State Park March 16, 2008

I meet up with Tim & his friend Eric (I do not know Eric well enough yet to say he's my friend) Secondly I have a number in my head, not saying what it is, which determines the number of "friends" I can have at any one given time. It keeps things simple, Tim understands it because it took several months before he was in my fav five circle. Moving on ... We hit the coffee shop first and then to the trails.

Bavington_316_1 It was a cool day and the trails weren't really muddy at all but they were a little soft. With the exception of Eric, Tim & I have both been riding pretty consistently but let me tell you that hasn't slowed Eric down any at all. With his tight schedule of school and work he only gets riding in sporadically. Never the less he shows up prepared, smiling and ready to roll.

During the start of our ride we had to stop a few times to let the guys make adjustments and Tim (the roadie that he is) did his best job of messing with me by continuing to tell me how well others from the area are riding this year and how strong they are going to be at the races. This only lit a fire under my behind which made me pick up the pace. After a few miles of this Tim realized what he had done and tried to withdraw his previous statements. I wasn't buying it. When that didn't work to get me to slow the pace he finally, while taking a break, came out and said that I was riding with a couple of mountain bike imitators! Yea he said it. I think it came out like "well you have to understand you're not riding with real mountain bikers".

I looked at Tim and Eric both and explained that I had not realized I had been riding with fakers, impostors, deceivers, impersonators until he had said so. All this time thinking they were mountain bikers! How embarrassing for me especially when others have seen me riding with these two.

We quickly come to the conclusion that they both were more mountain biker than they thought. Sure Tim races for a great road team but he spends almost every weekend in the woods and sometimes a day or two during the week riding trails at his local Park (Brady's Run) and for Eric well I think Tim just included him in that statement without thinking. I'm not sure Eric even owns a road bike. Since we aren't real friends I can't answer that but maybe over the next few months I'll drop someone on my fav five list and Eric can replace them... maybe. Otherwise he'll remain Tims friend who is always welcome on our rides. Ok ok I have to admit Erics a friend, damn I have to call my cell company and see if I can get a plan with a favorite 6 circle!

FYI- Both Tim and Eric make two great riding buds and if you ever run across them out on the trails consider yourself honored to ride with either one.... i do. Glad to know both these guys. Very Good eggs.
